ABOUT US

The Somali Women Empowerment Society (SWES) is a nonprofit organization based in Richmond, British Columbia, dedicated to uplifting Somali women and their families through education, employment training, and community programs.

Our mission is to equip women with the skills, confidence, and resources to build stable, independent lives in Canada. We offer English language classes, career development workshops, youth mentorship, and a halal food bank that supports families in need.

What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a trusted community hub that empowers hundreds of families each year. At SWES, we believe that when women thrive, families and communities thrive too.
